Veritas would tell you to refer to the Manufacturer's specifications,
which is why I ask.
However, the typical answer is LTO2 supports large block sizes. The IBM
LTO2 drives do support large block sizes. Per the IBM Redbook, tuning
an LTO2 drive in a VERITAS NBU environment they suggest 256KB block
sizes (262144 bytes) with 32 DATA buffers. Of course all of this really
depends on your host server, how much memory, what the OS is, if it is
adequately configured to support this much shared memory, etc. "Your
mileage may vary" as it were.

IBM published a REDBOOK documenting their LTO gen 2 product, if that's
what you are interested in.
