I have the same problem. The cleanings has not been identified as they are.
So, I have ejected from robot and inserted them with the help of robot menu:
"Insert Clenaning Cartridges". So I was able to use them.

I've got a tape drive that needs a cleaning and tpclean isn't working.

# tpclean -c 1
No cleaning tape is defined in the device's robot

but in the robot is a cleaning tape that's been there for several months
and maybe been used 10 times - any suggestions?
