Bob,
You do not need to be an admin to check or look at the
NetBackup jobs. You do however need to be admin to run
the Activity monitor. What needs to be done is give the
user privileges to run the command bpdbjobs. On a UNIX
platform you can run the command nonroot-admin in the
directory /usr/openv/netbackup/bin. This will give
non root or non admin users the ability to watch active,
and completed jobs.
We have purchased an application from Tavata Software, that
not only gives us NetBackup job status reports, but preventative
alarming and real time monitoring of our NetBackup environment.
We are also looking at them for SAN monitoring, and reporting.
