The money are in tapes, expected life of the drive, less errors (especialy 
restore erors) and availability.
Pro:
Tapes for 9940 cost less then for LTO2 and you use the same tape in 9940A 
and 9940B
Expected life of 9940B is longer then LTO2 drives
Error rate on 9940B are much lower then LTO2 drives (and restoreerors cost 
a lot)
9940B has less downtime then LTO2 (comparing 9940B to IBM LTO2, Others have 
even more downtime)
Installations tend to need fewer drives when using 9940B then LTO2. (and 
also less licencies for NBU)
9940B tend to compress better and faster the IBM LTO2
9940B tend to be faster the LTO2 (at least in real life)
Con:
9940B cost more then IBM LTO2 (but last longet)
