You'll need to upgrade to 3.4.1.  Read the README for 3.4.1 and look for its
discussion of MEDIA_ID_BARCODE_CHARS in vm.conf.

Another quick question:

My predecessor did not use barcode labels, which is obviously ungood.

So, I ordered a bunch: quoted as "LTO 100GB Ultrium Vert"

They use A00002 format with a bottom square containing an L1.

Unfortunately, when scanned by the robot (Sun StorEdge L25) they are read as
A00002L1, which is then truncated by NetBackup as 0002L1.

Is this typical behavior?
