When you do that and you see that it is "requesting" that tape, look at
your Device Monitor-Pending Requests.
Right button click on the pending request and you will be able to assign
it to a particular Standalone drive. This is only supported with
Standalone drives.

Is it possible to import NB backup images from a labeled tape using a
standalone drive?
The import utility tries to request the specified volume from the
correct media server and drive but then errors out with a treq error. I
assume this is because there is no way to tell NB that that the
specified tape is already in the standalone drive??
This is getting frustrating...
