I have convinced a customer that they do not need a 1 year retention on
their daily logs. This has resulted in about 3200 tapes being freed up to be
put back in to the scratch pool.

I have found that expiring a volume and transferring it to scratch pool
takes about a half hour per tape. That means about a month of continuous
work to expire all these volumes.

Anybody have a better idea? How would you expire the volume so that the tape
can be put in to scratch pool? The class is still active, and many of the
tapes from the backups are still in retention. (They asked that the tapes
from the first of every month be held for one year.)

My ignorance awaits your elucidation!
