the -empty_ie is the vmudate option to remove tapes from the CAP & place
them in slots automatically.  The library or NB determines in which slots
they're placed (I'm not sure which).  When complete, NB will update its
inventory of tapes (volume database) to add the new tapes to the library
inventory.

"empty_ie" is short for "empty the import/export slots".

sorry, but wat does empty_ie does? formats data out of tape? will this
command give the tapes a slot no. to which i can move them?

You can do this with the vmupdate command:

what do i need to do to move tapes from CAP to slots? (except m i<n> s<n>)
coz, the vmquery -m <ev> does not show the slot no. on the tape details.
Also, robot type is: "NONE - Not Robotic (0)" 

it is stk lib & tapes r in CAP.
