There's no difference between the dlt, dtl2, etc. drive/media types.
They're used to just keep your media separated.

If you've got SDLT & DLT7K drives, you might decide that the DLT7K drives
use type "dlt" while SDLT uses "dlt2". You assign your regular DLT tapes to
"dlt" media type & the SDLT tapes to "dlt2". This lets you use two
different media types & drives in one library.

Hi All,

Thanks to all who responded. After applying the latest Recommended patches
from SUN, things are going smooth.
One more change was changing the drives from dlt3 to dlt2. I have an Quantum
SDLT (320GB) drives.
I do not know the difference b/w dlt2 and dlt3. Does any one knows ????

Regards,
Purushotham

Yes I concur,

All others HBA's work great when I used there own Drivers. So if you
are using the SUN OEM Qlogics, then I am assuming that you are using
SUN's so called SAN stack.

That's where I've seen the issues. Esp. since the 280R are fiber
channel drives and the onboard HBA's for these drives are OEM Qlogic
Cards.

There is a method to remove the SUN stack and put in the Emulex HBA
drives without giving your O.S a lobotomy. If that is your case I can
look up my notes and send you the steps

Hope this helps

Sean

Thus far these HBA's work with these OSes in my SAN environment:

JNI w/Sun
Qlogic w/Linux
Emulex w/Windows

Good luck.
