Folks,
=20
Let me amend this. I did this twice with NetBackup 3.4 on Solaris 8.
I guess I just live right. :-)

FYI,
=20
I tried this exact process in testing and encountered problems. I don't =
recall specifically what they were, but they forced us to abandon our =
name change plans. =20

Dennis,
=20
I've changed the hostname of the NetBackup master a couple times:
=20
1) Save the NetBackup catalogs, noting which tape is used.
2) Rename the master server.
3) Restore the catalogs with:
    bprecover -r -tpath /dev/rmt/0cbn -dhost [new_hostname]
4) Check that all media servers refer to the new master name as
the volume database host. I believe /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpconfig
can be used to configure this.
=20
This is not a supported migration scenario, but it works.
=20
Good luck.

Thanks William and David!
You're right, Veritas Tech support told me that it is reallllyyyyyyyy =
very hard to change the hostname. He advised that I get a Veritas guy =
here and do the work ( which I think I will not do because it will cost =
money). I'll just stick to my current hostname and just make an alias =
for what I want it to be.

Regards,
Dennis

   =20

That's true enough. Roughly speaking, you pretend to have a server =
