Hi,
I'm hoping some of you have done this before.
I have EMC bcv's and Informix instance on a HP-UX system. I would like =
to split the data base off and use NBU
to do a cold backup of the raw data residing on the bcv's.
If memory serves me correctly:
I would have to status the data base in Hot backup mode.
Stop writes to the instance, then split the bcv's
Resume writes to the instance
Take the database out of hot backup mode
Then use NBU to do a raw backup of the data
=20
Anyone know if this is correct and will provide a valid backup?
=20
The reason for this is we already have the bcv's and the cost of =
additional Veritas licenses for the Informix piece
is not in the budget. We currently do a level zero to a stand alone DLT =
for Informix and backup all mounted filesystems
with NBU. We would like to have NBU managing all the tapes and backups.=20
TIA
