I have those settings already done... 256K and the number is 32...

create file:
SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS
with
262144 as the entry (no leading or trailing spaces or blank lines)
Next...if you have enough memory and your /etc/system file has been
properly
configured
create
NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS
with
16 as the entry (same rules as above)
if that works okay, try 32 and see how that is.
Also make sure you st.conf file is properly configured for your drives.
"STK 9840", "STK 9840 Fast Access", "STK9840",
"STK 9940B", "STK 9940 Tape Drive", "CLASS_T9940B",
STK9840 = 1,0x36,0,0x1d639,2,0x00,0x42,1;
CLASS_T9940B = 1,0x36,0,0x1d639,1,0x00,0;
Is what my client has setup in theirs.
