Yes we have; although we did not test the QLogic HBA itself we did test
various models from JNI and Emulex in SunFire 880 units and found that
typically 1Mbit/sec HBA's peaked out at about 60MByte/sec when fed with =
more
than one stream of fairly compressible data. With "real" data the rate =
was
somewhat lower yet. Note that we used the new T9940B drives which are =
rated
at a native speed of 30MByte/sec and use the same HBA interface as the
T9840B drives

Subject: [Veritas-bu] performance of the STK 9840B tape drive with the
SunFire 4800 machine
Hi to all,
=20
I'm researching the performance of the STK 9840B tape drive with the =
SunFire
4800 machine. We have a Qlogics 2200 HBA and find a throughput =
limitation of
about 60 MB/sec regardless of the number of drives. Has anyone observed
similar problems? What kind of performance have other users seen in this
environment? We're using Veritas Netbackup, but the performance =
limitation
is the same with other software.
=20
Regards,
