Compression of the binary database files is less dramatic - I suspect you're
using the binary format. If you're using the pure ASCII database, you might
see 80%.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Catalog Compression

Hello, I have configured my Netbackup 4.5FP3 master server to compress the
catalog. I began by setting the compress after XX days setting in global
properties to 300 and reduced it by 50 after each backup. It is now set to
32 days.

The catalog has reduced in size from 1.2gb to 900mb. But the manual says
that compression can be upto 80%.

Have I followed the correct procedure?

Thanks.
