Thought you might be interested to know I am making some progress......

I used another NT Master Server to backup this SQL Server and see if the
same problems are reported.
To my astonishment, the SQL backups are running and completing successfully,
but for some reason its completing with a STATUS 1 code (which is quite
unusual for SQL Backups!).

So, it appears another master server can backup this SQL Database, but I
cannot get its own Master Server (where SQL resides) to back itself up!

I have spent most of the morning with the SQL Guru and he seems to think it
might be a name resolution issue! Not sure why as I proved this by getting
my other NT Master server to backup the machine, which as you know works!

Does this help anyone shed anything? Because of this, I am now assuming my
.BCH is fine, and also ODBC!
