Just to give you an update. I am in the process of now rebooting the server.
The account Netbackupsql has local and Domain Admin rights.
It is set in the Netbackup Client Service as a userid and I can confirm the
service starts correctly.

Also in the event log, when the backups are running, it does show that the
Netbackupsql account does connect to SQL using a trusted connection.

I am wondering if it is something to do with the .BCH file. I just used the
default BCH file and now I get status 2 codes!

It never rains but it pours! The SQL guru cannot find anything else wrong.

Unless its an issue with the ODBC?

Ask the DBA to let you try it with the sa account for testing purposes and
see 
if that works.

if it does, then it is a permissions issue with the account he/she set up.
