For performance issues, the first think I check is the buffer settings.
Here's a technote on it that's very good. Increasing buffers made a big
difference to my backups & duplications. Don't forget the clients.

Has anyone else noticed command-line dupes taking much longer under NB
4.5?
I'm running an HP-9000 (HP/UX 11.0) with a 4/48 jukebox. Formerly, I
could run a dupe of one of our other big 9000's in about nine hours.
Yesterday (first dupe after the upgrade) it took over 12. Everything
looks ok in the logs (nothing glaring). Is it just 'one of those
undocumented features' in the new release?
