[Veritas-bu] Error 49
2003-01-23 21:01:40
Hi Gary-
Yeah we have a user backup schedule for that policy and I even tried
specifying the policy with the -p option and still come up with the same
error. The weird thing is that the backup starts and seems to finish *and
then* I get the error 49. I don't understand why it would start a backup
and get near the finish and then cough up this error.
I did notice the following in my latest test via the ../logs/bpcd
<snip>
17:18:46.057 [13442] <2> bpcd main: socket port number = 4908
17:18:46.058 [13442] <2> bpcd peer_hostname: Connection from host
nbmaster.bkp.sdv.yahoo.com (66.218.81.139) port 970
17:18:46.058 [13442] <2> bpcd main: Socket peer hostname is
nbmaster.bkp.sdv.yahoo.com
17:18:46.058 [13442] <2> getsockconnected: Connect to
nbmaster.bkp.sdv.yahoo.com on port 993
17:22:04.985 [13442] <2> getsockconnected: Connect to
nbmaster.bkp.sdv.yahoo.com on port 953
17:25:49.605 [13442] <2> getsockconnected: exceeded timeout of 300 seconds
17:25:49.605 [13442] <16> bpcd main: Couldn't connect to host
nbmaster.bkp.sdv.yahoo.com
17:25:49.606 [13442] <4> bpcd main: errno = 145 - Connection timed out
</snip>
Not sure why I'm seeing a socket timeout here...

If you don't give bpbackup a policy it uses the first policy it finds that
includes the client. The caveat here is that there MUST be a user backup
schedule defined for the policy it finds.
