uncommon to have a combination of differential and cumulative backups on=20
the same client in a unix environment to spread the distance between fulls =
out even longer.
You will NOT get the same results when you do this in a Windows=20
environment, when you're using the archive bit. Mixing the two,=20
cumulatives and differentials, against the same data in a Windows=20
environment does not buy you anything, and can sometimes be worse.

It depends on what your backing up, how much changes from backup to backup =
and are you cncerned from a DR point of view, or just daily restores. In=20
general cumulative takes more tape and more time to backup, but less time=20
to=20
restore, i.e. Full + 1 cum. -- Diff. takes less tape and time, unless a=20
lot=20
of files change, but it takes Full + all diff. tapes since the last full.
In general there is no set answer. It depends on the environment in which=20
the question is asked.
