It depends on what your backing up, how much changes from backup to backup 
and are you cncerned from a DR point of view, or just daily restores. In 
general cumulative takes more tape and more time to backup, but less time to 
restore, i.e. Full + 1 cum. -- Diff. takes less tape and time, unless a lot 
of files change, but it takes Full + all diff. tapes since the last full.
In general there is no set answer. It depends on the environment in which 
the question is asked.
