Moving to new hardware was one of the easiest things I have done with NBU.
Here is the process I performed for our recent move (win2k environment of
course):
1) Build the new hardware with a different name (mynbuserverX)
2) Perform catalog backup on existing server. (I performed this to a
network share for quick and easy restore)
3) Shutdown existing server
4) Move any hardware (we have tapes attached to our master)
5) Rename the new hardware to match the previous name
6) Install NBU (I actually think this could be done up before #3 but I
had the time so I waited)
7) Stop all services (except client)
8) Run BPRECOVER (I used the following: bprecover -r ALL -dpath
y:\nbudb This recovered all databases from the network share)
9) Restart services.
10) Reconfigure any hardware (I found I had to re-add the library and
drives since they changed hardware paths (different SCSI and such))
That was it. (Your mileage may vary)
