I have Netbackup 4.5 running on Solaris 8 now. Unfortunately, management
doesn't see the value of using non-microsoft servers. Can anyone give a
recommendation on how large a server you would suggest to convert our
master server to a Windows 2000 box ?
Currently have Sun E3500 dedicated as a master/media server
Gigabit network connection
4 - 400 MHz processors
4 gig memory
4 - 18 gig drives, mirrored for a total of 36 gig.
4 Diff Scsi connections to a Storagetek 9740 enclosure. The tape
library will be staying and moved to the new server.
1 scsi connection to an LTO library with two drives.
Backing up a total of 80 servers daily, mostly NT and 2000, but also
about 500 gig from netware servers.
Trying to keep the backup window between 6 pm and 8 am, but we are
increasingly having to extend it to daylight hours.
Thanks in advance for any help.
