two things...

as with any other backup, you can't just add something to the Include List =

on the client to get it backed up. it still needs to be in the File List=20
within the class/policy. do you have the client in a proper Exchange=20
class and does the File List include the right Exchange path (directive)?=20
I'm just asking since you posted "In the profile of the client, within the =
Include Exclude option, I have=20
entered the following - Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes:\ [mailbox=5Fname]." =
If you are using Exclude and Includes properly to exclude a range of=20
items from the File List, and then to include a range within the excluded=20
range, disregard this.

Also, is the mailbox you are using hidden from the Exchange address books. =

If the mailbox is hidden, instead of using the alias in the Exchange=20
field of the client properties, you need to use the full directory name.=20
It will look like this

/o=3DOrganization/ou=3DSite/cn=3DRecipients/cn=3DMailboxName

It can be seen in Exchange Admin... can't remember what the field is=20
actually called and don't remember if you can see it always or if you'll=20
need to be in Raw mode, but your Exchange admin will know what I'm talking =

about.

Thanks Guys for all of your helpful replies. I really appreciate it. J
=20
I would like to summarize what I have tried so far - and yes, a backup of=20
the mailbox still fails with error 71 [none of the files in the file list=20
exists].=20
=20
I have re-confirmed all the stages of the set-up as per the NetBackup 4.5=20
Exchange manual. (Also as per the document that was forwarded to me,=20
which I found had highlighted a few check points).
The Exchange mailbox is defined in the master servers' bp.conf file.=20
NetBackup processes were then stopped and started.
The NetBackup mail box alias is entered in the exchange profile of the=20
client. It also has the correct permissions.
In the profile of the client, within the Include Exclude option, I have=20
entered the following - Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes:\ [mailbox=5Fname].
The mailbox in question has been used, i.e. logged into.
Settings on the exchange server conform to tech note 241968=20
recommendations.
=20
I am left puzzled. From the client side Backup and Restore GUI, the=20
mailbox is not visible. This would lead me to think a configuration error,=
 but I have=20
checked permissions, entries and even spelling (checking upper and lower=20
case text matches etc.), and it is by the book. I did read somewhere to=20
enter the include file on the client in the C:\ but now I can't find the=20
text now. Does anyone know the exact path? (I work with UNIX=20
predominantly so have to work with a Windows Administrator to actually do=20
the configuring on the Exchange server, so I need to be exact - as it=20
should be!) J
=20
The Windows Administrator was wondering if Anti-Virus software can cause a =

conflict - but were both concerned about having a mail server without A.V. =

software running! Any further hints, tips or cheer would be much=20
appreciated.=20
=20
Met vriendelijke groet / Kind regards,
Louise
