All,

I am new to the NetBackup area and have a couple of questions in relation to
the command vmchange and the output provided by the commands vmquery and
xvmadm:

1. vmquery
When using the wide format vmquery -w -a the output provides, among all the
fields, the following fields for each media:

- offsite location
- off sent datetime
- off return datetime
- off slot
- off ses id

When using the brief format vmquery -b -a the output does not provide the
above information.

2. vmchange
vmchange can update the fields as mentioned in section 1. vmquery (using the
wide format) as described in vmchange (1M):

      Change a volume's offsite location

      /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange [-M master_server] [-h
           volume_database_host] -offloc offsite_location -m media_id

Change the date the volume was sent offsite

      /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange [-M master_server] [-h
           volume_database_host] -offsent mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss -m media_id

Change the date when the volume returns from offsite

      /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange [-M master_server] [-h
           volume_database_host] -offreturn mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss -m media_id

      Change the offsite slot number

      /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange [-M master_server] [-h
           volume_database_host] -offslot offsite_slot -m media_id

      Change the offsite session id

      /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange [-M master_server] [-h
           volume_database_host] -offsid offsite_sessionid -m media_id

where

      -offloc offsite_location
Specify the offsite location where this volume is stored.

      -offsent mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss
Specify the date the volume was sent to the offsite
                location.

      -offreturn mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss
Specify the date the volume is scheduled to return from the
                offsite location.

      -offslot offsite_slot
Specify the offsite slot where this volume is stored.

      -offsid offsite_sessionid
                Specify the offsite session id.

3. xvmadm
xvmadm displays up to 21 columns of information, which are the ones obtained
with the brief format vmquery -b -a. Unfortunately, the off-site columns are
not among the 21 columns that can be selected in order to match the output
obtained with the wide format vmquery -w -a.

4. Questions
4.1. How to compute the commands in section 2. vmchange through the xvmadm
user interface to update off-site fields?

4.2. How to display the output from section 1. vmquery (wide information
display) through the xvmadm user interface?

Thanks for your assistance,

Dominique
