You need to start the ltid daemon in "no standalone unload" mode.  It's a
click box under the device manager startup in the gui or add "-nsu" to the
ltid daemon startup in the startup scripts.  ( I recommend the latter
choice, it persists through reboots.)

There's a good section on utilizing stand-alone drives in the sysadm guide.
