I have had 2 L3500 libraries for 4 years now.  They where my work horses in
the beginning ,  but are about to be fazed out.  Now using P3000 & STK
L/700.

I had 6 drives in each.  The L3500 worked great.  Had to have boards
replaced about a year ago.  Haven't had a drive replacement in the last 18
months
