Subject: [Veritas-bu] QLogic 2300 HBA Downing Drives

Hi,

We recently started using QLogic HBA's on our Solaris machines, and we've
noticed some strange behavior. When the machine offline's a drive, it downs
the drive. No other machines are able to use the drive. Has anyone
observed similar behavior with the QLogic's? We're using the QLA2300 driver

--------------------

Chris,

We experienced the same thing with QL2200's and the drivers under NT and
W2K. I know that
under linux, persistant binding was possible, but we found that under NT and
W2k it wasn't
at the time.

We had to do quite a bit of digging on the qlogics site to find this out.
This prompted us
to insert emulex 8000/9000 cards in our servers for the pathing to our tape
SAN. Five minutes
using the config util and we had everything locked for scsiid to wwn. It
wasn't cheap, but at
the time we needed to make sure the tape names were not hopping around on
us.
