Windows 2000 Master Server (SAN attached) with 5 additional SSO Win2K
servers. Compaq Storageworks SAN, MDR and tape library (9326 - 16 DLT
drives). NBU 3.4.1.
I have been researching several 86 (media position) errors that I have been
receiving as of late. Trying to determine if I have a drive configuration
issue (due to MDR reassigning LUNs, it has happened before) or if I truly
have bad media. I reviewed the drive configuration and all seems okay,
drives are not down the following day as was typically the case when drive
config issues occurred.
Yesterday, I ran an available_media report and have a few tapes which are
frozen.
This morning when I started looking at this again, I noticed that NetBackup
loaded these "frozen" tapes for backups last night and I am not sure why.
It appears that my media position errors are happening on the same 5 or so
tapes but I am not sure why NetBackup keeps loading these tapes if they are
reported as frozen.
I can remove the tapes from the library but am curious if anyone has seen
this before.
Thanks,
John Glancey
