[Veritas-bu] Media Frozen
2002-10-30 12:51:38
Hi,
I should have mentioned that I am running on a Unix platform and I have
checked the media errors file but it's not reporting any errors for the
media. I have not re-used these tapes.
Thanks for your suggestions. The bperror -U command is quita useful. It is
telling me that I have Netbackup database data on those tapes so it won't
use them so I am on the right track now. I am just glad that there is
nothing wrong with the tapes.
Thanks.

Try running:
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bperror -U -media
Logs to look at:
@ the NetBackup Server (ensure that VERBOSE is in the
/usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf file):
create the /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bptm directory
retry the backup, check the log file in the above directory along with
/var/adm/messages

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Media Frozen
Hi,
I know that media gets frozen due to media errors but to my knowledge, there
have been no media errors. I noticed today that I have 6 tapes that are in
a frozen state and I am not sure why? If I unfreeze them, the backup job
mounts them and then tries but it times out eventually when trying to write
to them. They eventually freeze again. Any ideas as to what I should be
looking at? Thanks for any help.
Katherine
