Hello,

We have a master server monitoring 4 drives and a media server =
monitoring 2 drives in a L700 library. 2 of the 4 drives on the master =
were added a few months ago by the previous NetBackup Admin and he =
configured 2 storage unit with 2 drives on the master and another =
storage unit with 2 drives on the media. As you don't specifically name =
the drives on a storage unit I was wondering what advantage is there =
with this configuration ? Wouldn't it be better to only have one storage =
unit with 4 drives on the master. We're multiplexing up to 4 client on a =
media with a max job of 2 on a specific client. We're using the 3 =
storage units in our classes. How and when does NetBackup decide which =
of the four drives are going to be used by one SU or by the other one ? =
It appears when you look at the syslog that a single job which runs =
alone on the master (with a specific storage unit) is able to use all =
four drives as tapes get mounted on all four of them. How does it work =
when multiple jobs are active on both storage unit ?=20

Thanks in advance.

Jerome
