Steve,

That's the way I've typically done it, too. Have you ever needed to
modify some of the NBU attributes, like alternate host names or force
restore server, etc.?

I have used mutli-homed Sun Media servers for years with no problems.
The way I typically have handled it was to make sure the multiple NICs
are on different subnets, then balance the clients out across the
subnets by providing each client with a host file entry for the media
server, pointing to the IP address on the subnet you want that client to
use. Works quite well, but you do have to manage those host files. I
have found it to work best if the clients are also multi-homed, with the
NIC over which the backups run on the same subnet as you want them to
use for the media server.

Master Server = Sun E450
Media Server = Sun E4500
NBU 3.4 3

I've been thinking about this so I thought I'd run it by the mailing
list.
Would NBU support a multi-homed media server? I need to distribute my
network based backups across different subnets because I'm running out
of
bandwidth and I'm not sure how NBU would work if I did this. I know
it's
closely coupled with the hostname of the master and media server and
since
each interface would have a different alias I'm not sure if NBU would
get
confused. Has anyone done this? Thanks.

-Dave
