Solaris should create the necessary dev files (provided the targets are
visible down the FC paths) if you do a "devfsadm" at the command line or if
you do a "boot -r" from the bios level.

I'm very new to setting NBU 4.5 up on Solaris (having spent 5 years using
NBU under Windows), and I'm looking for some help!

NBU 4.5 went onto the server no problems. What I am having a problem with is
getting Solaris 8 to create a device file for a JNI FCE-6460 HBA.

I've loaded the JNI driver (JNIC164x.pkg) and configured the card using the
JNI utility EZ Fibre. This software recognises the HBA and the L700 silo and
STK 9940 tape drives.

I've followed the instructions in the NBU manuals about deleting the st.conf
and sg.conf files and recreating them, however the system is not creating a
/dev/rmt file for the tape drives or silo.

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom for me.

Try and keep them simple, baring in mind my 3 months of basic Solaris
experience.

Thanks,

Andy Skates
