[Veritas-bu] scheduled backups failing, manual backups not.

Master / Media server = NBU 3.4_3 on Solaris 8

Failing clients = Solaris 2.6 and Solaris 8

Scheduled backups are failing with

Backup on $CLIENT_NAME - 41 started
Backup on client $CLIENT_NAME by root failed.
Status = network connection timed out.
----------------------------------------------

If I manually initiate a manual backup from the master server, everything
works fine.

Any ideas ?
