[Veritas-bu] Tape drive cleaning with SS0
2002-06-21 20:22:22
There are a lot of past posts on tape drive cleanings if you search the
archives.
fyi... NBU is aware of it if you have a STK L700 and the right firmware and
NBU patch level. It was added in patch 645 ???... may have wrong patch
number, but it is listed in the readme for the patch as being an added
feature. Actually seems to work pretty well.
...and if your drives support the Tape Alert feature, you can always use that
as long as you configure a cleaning tape within Media Manager (but haven't had
much luck with this and DLT 7k).

[Veritas-bu] Tape drive cleaning with SS0

I have the worst possible combination for automatic tape cleaning - VCS + SSO
on both master and media server. Up until now I was using the Autoclean
function of the tape library, but this is not an ideal solution because the
robotics/drive become unavailable for the duration of the cleaning and NBU
does
not know about it. I was just wondering how other people do it.
