Not sure how many clients you have but I would also suggest you check out
Connected's competing product, http://www.connected.com/products/index.htm.
Reviews of Connected's TLM and NBU Pro are located at
http://www.pcmag.com/article/0,2997,s=1882&a=22023,00.asp. We are evaluating
the two right now. Scaling might be better with one versus the other.

If you're going to use NBU Pro, make sure you use v3.51 with Maintenance
Pack 1. You might also check out
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/NETBACKUPPro_digest.htm for Knowledge
Base articles published within the past 30 days.

With NBU Pro, users must select an alternate dialup profile in order to
backup over slow links such via 56k dialup. Pro can't autodetect the
connection speed.

And if you have clients in multiple domains different from your server, this
might concern you if your clients have to remember another set of passwords:

---------------
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/246433.htm - Backups have been made,
but no files or folders appear under My Backups on the client machine.

Symptom:
Backups have been made, but no files or folders appear under My Backups on
the client machine.

Solution:

This occurs most commonly in an NT cross-domain environment, where the
NetBackup Professional (NBUP) Server is in a different domain than the
client. If the client is in a different domain than the server, it is
suggested to use Accounts Based Authentication on the NetBackup Professional
Server so that authentication is done on a NetBackup Professional level.

Users will also be prompted to establish a username and password the next
time they connect. This will be associated with the user's data on the
server for proper ownership, therefore allowing files and folders to now
appear under My Backups.
-----------

Just a suggestion.

We are looking into Netback Pro for this.
Not that it has anything to do with NetBackup Datacenter, but we will go for
it anyway.

If users don't change there data too much it should work on a 56K line (but
I would do the initian backup at the datacenter)

I am reviewing how to support our field staff for backup and DR protection

Is anyone doing this currently, What are your experiences.

How is bandwidth affected, what impact does it have on my backup server.

How much data can I really expect to backup using slow (56K) lines?

Any help is greatly appreciated - I think this will be a nightmare!
