no the 2 -3 meg /second was the ftp speed i was getting over the network
which wasn't too bad.
I got 4 DLT drives in the Sun L1000.
Yes using multiplexing, but im currently running a test of this client on
its own and it has only backed up 205 meg in 1 hour.
Where is hardware compressions turned on or off? because someone suggested
turning software compression on .
I could do this for this class, although I do not do it for other classes.

what drives do you have???? 2-3 meg is not that great if you have dlt8000,
9840 or LTOs.
if you have DLT4000 or DLT7000 you should still get 4-5 meg per second.
Are you using multiplexing??

Nic is set to full duplex, 100 meg adv_autoneg_cap = 0 ie autonegotiation
off.
Network ftp test was good speed, about 2 - 3 meg a second.
So stuck now. Going to try a manual backup of client while nothing else is
running. See if theres any difference.
Cheers

What's the NIC configuration? Is it Auto-Negotiate? Try setting it to
the speed of the switch you are attached to (ie 100 FULL)

Subject: [Veritas-bu] backup time on 1 client seems big
I have Netbackup 3.2 on solaris 8 with a sun L1000 storage unit.
I have multiple clients backing up, but seem to have a problem with 1
client. It is taking like 7-8 hours to backup 14 gig. where as I have
another client taking about 5 hours to backup 70 gig . The latter is ok, but
the machine taking so long to backup 14 gig seems v extreme.
Has anyone any ideas where to look why this might be doing this, or seen
this b4?
cheers
Dave
