I have a master server on the east coast and a media server on the west
coast. I'm trying to set up a poor man's version of a disaster recovery
architecture. I'd like to modify the media server on the west coast to
be the master server in the event of an east coast disaster. Is this
possible?

Would I have a working west coast master server if I did the following?
1. Added the software that is not added during a media server
installation vs. a master server installation to the media server.
2. Changed the hostname and i.p. (we'd work out any other network
issues that were involved) of the media server to that of the master.
3. Restored the NetBackup databases from the master server to the
media server.
4. I guess I'd have to have duplicated the tapes and loaded them in
the library on the west coast.

I'm looking for feedback as to whether or not the media to master
conversion is possible, and if not, what other choices I have, assuming
I cannot use Veritas' NBU Vault product.

Darryl
