We exclude the entire catalog.wci folder from the backups and one of the
files in that folder is 2.2G alone. Per
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q209304:

"Often the trouble shooting of catalog corruption involves simply stopping
and starting the Index Server. However, sometimes you will need to rebuild
the catalog from scratch (stop Index Server, delete or move the contents of
the Catalog.wci directory, and then restart Index)."

Other backup programs have problems with it too. See
http://www.ultrabac.com/kb6/htm/UBQ000106.htm.

But we do backup the IIS Metabase per
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/236941.htm.

Try Ang's settings and see if it helps but if your file system is constantly
busy, OTM may not help. If you could stop all non-essential services during
the backup, those files probably can get backed up.

If you cannot get OTM to work, try Open File Manager from
http://www.stbernard.com.

Hi,

Set the cache file to c:\temp as the ::\temp is actually a bug (can be found
in one of the technote from veritas)

Also, try the following settings:

Initial cache size: 500
Max. cache size: 2500
Busy file wait: 1
Cached files: 0
Error Control: Abort on error

Hi everyone
My Netbackup skills are slowly getting better (not bad for someone without
backup manuals!) I wanted to ask something about OTM.

I have several machines that partially get backed up (Status 1). When I view
the reports for the backup job I get errors similar to the following
example:

AUK52098 WRN - Cant open file E:\hpdta\Data\Bin.in\(Name of files).AOT
(WIN32 32: Unknown error)

OTM is enabled, and I have set a cache drive (It shows as ::\TEMP) Initial
Cache size is 300MB, Max is 0MB and the busy file wait and timeout is set
for 600. I have also set error control for RETRY OTM.

I have gone to the veritas site, downloaded their Knowledge Base articles
and followed these, but yet I am still getting machines That will not backup
certain files. Even IIS on an NT4 Server doesn't backup the catalog.wci
folders or files within it.

Any ideas on what I can do next? Some of these are critical files, and
needed for a restore, so I do not want to exclude them. Some NT Servers I
have excluded because they are .TMP Files or temp folders not needed.

BTW, this is all an NT Server Environment - Master and Media Servers all NT4
!

Thanks
