ty david, this resolved the issues with the class/clients file net
reflecting the correct OS version and I was able to automate
the updates.

do a bpclclients and see what that says about he clients in question. It
should show you what the OS level is reading.

If it is 2.6, you can manually change this, its no big deal.

I don't have a machine in front of me now, but you want to go to :

/usr/openv/netbackup/class

There you should be able to find the class or clients (or something like
that) file. Just grep for $CLIENTNAME in this dir and you should find it
okay.

Just edit the file and change the OS to the correct version. Make sure you
get this part right, otherwise it will not work very well during backup. I
would look at an existing Solaris 8 client just to make sure you get the
right, I think its just Solaris8.

David

when running 'update_clients Solaris Solaris8' it found and updated all but
three machines.
these three machines have been upgraded from 2.6 to 8 a few months back. Is
there a
chance that its still reflecting 2.6? Where would I update this?
