In preliminary testing of our new NetBackup configuration, we ran a class
with and without compression. Using compression doubled the time it took
the class to finish.

The class consists of one client, specifying about 34GB of software
installation files and hardware drivers to be backed up. The client is
connected to the media server via TCP/IP ethernet. The media server is a
dual Xeon 333 with 500mb RAM running Windows 2000, connected via fabric SAN
switch to an HP Surestore-E library.

Now for the question: Would adding more processors to the media server
speed up the compression considerably? (or, possibly, is the compression
done at the client?)
If we should add more processors to the media server, are they automatically
detected and used by Netbackup 3.4.1, or is there extra configuration there?

Thanks!
Jesse
