Hope these will help.

>From http://www.ultrabac.com/kb/htm/UBQ000106.htm:

--------------------------
INFO: Open Files: InetPub
UBQ ID Number: UBQ000106
Last Modified: 2000-06-12 at 10:44:41
SUMMARY:
Information on backing up Inetpub files on a webserver.
DETAILS:
Inetpub directories would refer to files that are locked open. Anything that
says Inetpub\catalog.wci\is a web catalog file. It isn't so important that
these files are backed up. They are easily rebuilt by stopping and
restarting the Content Index service on the webserver. So by implication, if
the files didn't exist after a restore, they would automatically be
re-created when the Content Index is started on boot up.

A sample backup log for a webserver would be the following:

SET SUMMARY - The C Drive @ WEBSERVER

BACKUP ERRORS:

\\WEBSERVER\C$\Inetpub\catalog.wci\

CiCL0001.000 240 6/7/99 2:46:24 PM a

Skipped (SHARING VIOLATION)

<a bunch more in this directory>

You should also take a look at
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/236941.htm titled "How to backup
(manually or automatically) and restore Internet Information Server 4.0/5.0
metabase."

http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?app=WebEvents&eventid=4124 and
http://hem.passagen.se/gudomlig/iis/iisfaq/ntfaq/iis25.htm also have info on
webserver catalogs.

You can look at http://www.naa.gov.au/search/srchadm/help/cathlp.htm to see
what those files are.
