Subject: Case 150-074-346 (VERITAS - deassignbyid of DBBACKUP media):
Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 16:07:49 -0500
MIME-Version: 1.0
X-Mailer: Internet Mail Service (5.5.2653.19)
Content-Type: text/plain;
        charset="iso-8859-1"

FYI -

#2) Run a vmquery on the media id:

   /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmquery -m S10008

which will produce something that looks like this...

vmquery -m S10008
====================================================================
media ID: S10008
media type: DLT cartridge tape (11)
barcode: S10008
description: Added by Media Manager
volume pool: sanfran(5)
robot type: NONE - Not Robotic (0)
volume group: ---
created: Fri Jan 15 11:45:59 1999
assigned: Fri Jan 15 11:47:27 1999
last mounted: Fri Jan 15 11:48:57 1999
first mount: Fri Jan 15 11:48:57 1999
expiration date: ---
number of mounts: 1
max mounts allowed: ---
status: 0x1
================================================================

The two important things we work with from this output is the numeric value
given on the volume pool line and the last digit shown on the status line.
Here the numbers would be 5 and 1

#3) Deassign...

   /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmquery -deassignbyid S10008 5 1
         ***(the 5 was the pool number from vmquery, the 1 was the status
from vmquery)***

#4) We can now delete the media id...

   /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmdelete -m S10008

#5) vmquery the media id:

   /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmquery -m S10008

     ***(nothing should show up, continue with the other media id's)***
