One of my SQL servers died and was replaced with a new server. Same name
and same IP address. I was able to restore all the necessary database except
the model and master. I can't seem to find any specifics in the docs
concerning Master. I do remember something about single user mode. We are
using Sun as the master and media servers. NT 4.0 as the SQL servers.
Lastly old server did not have a run book but I think we put SQL in all the
same places.

How much data is in that 210G of blocks?

If there's really not much data, the rest is probably all zeros. Blocks
full of zeros would be highly compressible.

In general, long strings of repeated bytes are highly compressible.

Hi there Gurus,

I am using a 40/80G DLT IV tape for backing up INformix database ( raw
volumes ) of size - 210G. The whole backup comes on a sngle tape. How is it
? Is it because of the Raw volumes ?

I believe all you need to do is add the filesystems in :
/usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list

True, for a Unix client.

The exclude file uses a naming convention:

/usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list (all classes, all
schedules)
/usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list.CLASSNAME (all schedules in
CLASSNAME only)
/usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list.CLASSNAME.SCHEDNAME (for schedule
SCHEDNAME in CLASSNAME only)

YMMV on NT clients, there's no server-side exclusion file (drat!).

Yeah, that's how I've done it so far. I was hoping that NB had a
higher-level command.

With tldtest you can scan the inport.

e.g echo "s i" | tldtest -r /dev/sg/c?t?l?

Michael

-----Original Message-----

Does anybody know how I might inventory the contents of my mailslots?

I've got a kludge build around "tldtest" right now but I'm looking for a
better way.

I'd settle for just know how many tapes are in the mailslots at any time.

Hi all,

Have anyone of you work on HP-UX 11.0 with EMC BCV?
i.e.
On the backup host, after establishing the BCV with the Standard volumes,
the BCV will need to be mounted on the backup host for backup. Does anyone
have the commands/script to import the various vg and lv?

Pls kindly advice. Thank you.
