Yes, NBU invalidate previous data on tape(s), even if there is a span.
Well I tested this week with 9840/Switch and 9840/SN6000 .

I can do it manually, but does NBU know that the tape is re-useable or
does it keep it allocated? I guess I'm wondering if I need to worry
about running out of tapes because of failed backups.
