We use ssh. Since ssh was designed to be more or less a drop-in replacement
form rsh, the changes to the scripts are quite minimal. However, I don't
believe these client updates use the install_client scripts. I believe they
use the standard NBU protocols to 'restore' the new files to each client.

Jon

I've been wondering about this problem, and it just occurred to me that I
have the best folks at my disposal.

Occasionally Veritas issues updates to client software, which is usually
updated by the NBU software itself via install_client_files this works
over rcp and I believe FTP? Most of our servers have neither of those
protocols running for security reasons, so I followed Veritas'
instructions and installed the software directly to the servers from
CD-ROM. This doesn't seem like the most efficient way to update the
software.

How are other folks doing this? Is everyone enabling ftp or rcp? Has
anyone hacked install_client_files and install_client for SSH support?

Thanks in advance!
