    Hi all,
=20
OTM is mandatory on windows clients to allow netbackup backup all open
files.
=20
But if you don't need to backup system files and you create a fine =
exclude
list then you don't need OTM.
=20
If you don't do this, then you have always a return code 1 to all your
windows's server backups.
=20
I think that Veritas recommend you that you not use OTM to backup Lotus
Notes files.
=20
Unix server don't care about OTM.
=20
So you can use OTM on specifique windows servers if you need.

I will be attempting the same thing - adding a couple Windows 2000 =
servers
as clients to an existing unix Netbackup server, at one of our remote =
sites.
Also will have a couple Lotus Notes clients.=20

My question is this. Is OTM necessary in this type of configuration? I =
know
that when Veritas came out and helped us set up our initial Veritas =
scenario
with an NT Netbackup 3.4 server to handle all of our NT clients, they
recommended that we NOT use OTM. I did not question why at the time, =
but now
I am putting this out to you guys.=20

Is there benefit to OTM (other than what would seem to be the obvious) =
and
is there a specific NEED for it with the unix server - Windows 2000 =
client
scenario?=20

Thanks in advance!!!=20
