Make the following entry in the bp.conf file on your Master server:
FORCE_RESTORE_MEDIA_SERVER = fromhost tohost
"where fromhost is the server that performed the original backup and tohost
is the server to use for the restore" (p.333 of the Sysadmin guide). Then
bounce netbackup on the master.

I have one master and one media server. Everything is Netbackup 3.4GA. The
master has one library attached with four drives. The media server has one
library attached with one drive.

I need to do a restore of some data that was backed up to the media server.
It is quite a bit of data and I am expecting it to take a pretty good deal
of time. I have several servers which back up data to the media server every
hour. Thus I cannot use the one drive on the media server for restore,
blocking the hourly backups. I have removed the tapes needed for the restore
from the media server to the master server. This way I can restore with one
drive and still have three left to back up data.

The restore kicks off fine and promptly hangs at :

"12:46:27 (43029.001) Restoring from image created Tue 05 Feb 2002 01:12:38
AM P"

There are no pending media requests on either the master or the media
server. The first tape required for the restore has not moved from it's slot
in the library. It has been several hours since I kicked it off.
