We saw problems like this after installing one of Microsoft's rollup
patches. We started getting files that failed backup (WIN32 5's showing up
in the bperror log). This would cause systems not to restore correctly (not
all files there). Depending what files were missed we say everything from
blue-screens on reboot to the network becoming inoperable after restore.

Are you getting status 1 for the backups of these systems? What is the files
that it is skipping if so?

That's a simple place to start looking anyway.

Jason

Hello everyone.

At a customer site i run into the following problem.

After a restore of a full backup of Windows 2000 Advanced Server some
drivers are not restored correctly.

We use an Eicon card witch causes blue screens during a reboot after a
restore. When we delete this card and related registry settings, and install
the card later again everything works fine.

We use a Gemplus Smart Card Reader. This driver is not installed correctly
and has to be installed manually after the restore.

Both the backup job and the restory job report no errors. After checking the
report log for both jobs all the files are overwritten correctly.

Has anybody an idea what can cause this problem?

Regards,

Rolf
