We monitor out /var/adm/messages, and send pages or emails whenever we get a
robot problem.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Status of a robot from command line

I am wondering if there is a way to determine the status of a robot from the
command line. After the issue we had today (which turned out to be the robot
had dropped a tape) I would like to 'teach' our monitoring system how to
monitor the robot.

I have tried a few situations with 'tldtest' without great results (nothing
seemed immediatly to report on the status of the robot).

Ieally I'd like something that would generate output similar to 'mt status'
for tape drives. I saw robtest/tldtest give me the 'error' flage when the
robot was malfunctioning, but did not see any way to have it report on an
'OK' or 'Not OK' status.

Thanks!

Jason
