I've been looking around for info, and it appears that my best bet for
backing up multiple Netapp Filers is to get a new tape drive/jukebox, hook
it up to a single "master" Filer, install NDMP on our NBU server, and then
use it to back up all of the Filers to that "master" Filer's drive.

Is that accurate? Does anyone know of a better way, or are there any
issues I should be aware about with that strategy? I've heard the
performance may be bad, but I've also heard that it's supposedly improved
dramatically recently so maybe it's not an issue.

Would it make more sense to just NFS-mount all of the Filers to one
machine and do backups of the local NFS mounts? Does NBU support the RMT
protocol mentioned on the netapp site and does it provide reasonable
functionality?

I found these instructions for getting it done on one Filer:
http://www.backupcentral.com/foms/netbackup-serve/cache/75.html

Are there any major changes for backing up from Filer to Filer via NDMP on
NBU?

Any other comments/pointers would be appreciated as well.

Thanks,
Nicholas
